Eberhart Collection Set Upload
Friday, May 31, 2024
Today, a portion of the Eberhart collection set is being uploaded. This includes the collections of J. H. Linkletter Sr. (II) (1896-1964), I. Eberhart (1983-1921), S. I. W. Eberhart (1895-1961), W. I. P. Eberhart (1919-1981), and C. P. Eberhart nee Linkletter (1925-2007). These photos were obtained and digitized after the passing of C. P. Eberhart (1925-2007). Included in the W. I. P. Eberhart collection are also a set of approximately 800, Black and White 620/120 Medium Format Film Negatives ranging from the mid-1940s to mid-1950s that were obtained and digitized with a DSLR in 2020. There are indications to suggest that a portion of these negatives were also part of the S. I. W. Eberhart Collection and were obtained following his death in 1961. These have not been parsed and have been integrated into the larger collection due to lack of available evidence delineating ownership. Along with the set of 120 negatives were also some 35mm negatives and color transparencies (slides). With the information available, it is believed that a majority of these photographs taken between 1939-1989 were shot with 1 of the following 3 cameras owned by W. I. P. Eberhart: the c. 1939-40 Kodak Jiffy Six-20 Series II (620/120 Film), the c. 1950 Ricoh 300 Rangefinder (35mm Film), and the c. 1970 Yashica MG-1 Rangefinder (35mm Film). As a result of the combination of collections, an effort has been made to delineate ownership based upon the decade. This collection, although currently incomplete, ranges from the late-1800s and concludes in the early-2000s, following the passing of C. P. Eberhart in 2007. Contributors to this collection include the names above, as well as P. F. Knoetgen (1870-1944), D. M. Sprague (1926-2018), J. P. Eberhart (1923-2020), C. Zanga, M. Linkletter, and C. Nieman.
